Teton Gravity Research (TGR) is pleased to announce that Jon “J.K.” Klaczkiewicz, who most recently supervised post-production of TGR’s highly anticipated snowboard film “Deeper,” has officially joined TGR as Head of Production. Mr. Klaczkiewicz worked with TGR early in his career and has been a valued contributor to the company for more than two years in his capacity as supervising producer of “Deeper.” His expanded role, which will include overall production management as well as new business development, is a result of both his excellent work with TGR and his highly regarded reputation within the industry.
TGR has constantly striven to raise the standard of production quality in action sports and hasten the utilization of the most cutting-edge filming technologies. In recent months, the company has fulfilled this goal by becoming a first-mover in 3D filming in action sports with its 3D segment in 2010′s “Light the Wick.” TGR’s 2010 “Deeper” release also represents the company’s first-ever all-snowboarding film.
The company’s rapid growth, driven by its expansion into new sports, implementation of new technologies, and the need to constantly create compelling content for TGR’s growing base of online users, the need for Mr. Klaczkiewicz’s new position became evident. According to Todd Jones, one of TGR’s founders, “As we went about restructuring our production team to meet our current and future needs, we realized very fortunately that J.K. had all of the qualities that we were looking for in a Head of Production. The irony was that he was already under our roof. We were stoked to find out that he was interested in and willing to take on this new challenge. There is no one in the industry more qualified than J.K.”
Mr. Klaczkiewicz will supervise all aspects of production activity. This will include management of TGR’s resources, both human and otherwise, formulating budgets, generating new production business, and conceptualizing new revenue streams relating to TGR content. He will report to Todd Jones, who will maintain his focus on the company’s growing new media team and merging the worlds of production and online.
Founded in 1996, TGR is a world-renowned action sports production company and lifestyle brand. The company has grown rapidly in recent months, as evidenced by its expanding online presence and social media dominance. In April 2010, Alexa.com ranked TGR’s website, www.tetongravity.com, the #1 ranked snow sports site on the internet. Much of the website’s growth has been driven by increased video views; hits grew by 97% year-over-year during the 2009/2010 ski season.
As supervising producer at Teton Gravity Research in 2003, J.K.’s efforts earned the coveted Powder Magazine Ski Movie of the Year Award for “High Life.” In 2004, his independent feature-length documentary about legendary big mountain freeskier Kent Kreitler, “Reverence: The Kent Kreitler Story,” earned another nomination for Ski Movie of the Year and Best Biography at X-Dance during the Sundance Film Festival. In addition to “Nomads,” a story-based television program aired on RUSH HD, Mr. Klaczkiewicz¹s most recent work includes the highly acclaimed “Swift.Silent.Deep,” the award winning documentary film exploring the roots of the notorious Jackson Hole Air Force.
Mr. Klaczkiewicz earned a Master¹s in Business Administration from the University of Colorado.
