While other North American ski camps may have shuttered themselves for summer, Mt. Hood’s Windells Camp is still flourishing thanks to plenty of snow and awesome terrain.
Like other Windells sessions, Session 6 played host to another signature week, this time for hot, young company, Surface Skis. The whole Surface team was out in full force as the Utah-based ski manufacturer brought an on-slaught of impressive talent to get the campers stoked for the second to last session of summer. Notable activities included designing tie-dye prints on the all new Surface X Skull Candy collection t-shirts, as well as a special concert by legendary rapper Del the Funky Homosapien.
Tom Wallisch, fresh off his Fuel TV appearance, continued his dominance of all action sports this week by trying his hand at BMX. Wallisch said, “Figured I’d experiment with a sport where there’s not a lot of kids who can laugh at me off-hill,” adding he just hoped to avoid getting hurt.
But it wouldn’t be Windells without the amazing skiing. The group of skiers found on Windells lane hasn’t declined in talent over the passing weeks, as besides hosting Wallisch, ski stars Jacob Wester, who just returned from a recent Bali stint, and a healthy Nick Martini made notable appearances on the glacier.
Finally, proving the kind of amazing training facility Windells is famously known as, Mammoth Mountain local Parker White continues to make waves as he recently joined the elite club of skiers with “unnatural doubles” in their repertoire.
