An Army National Guard helicopter crashed Tuesday night on Alaska’s Knik Glacier while trying a rescue attempt to pick up stranded sightseers, officials said.

The rescue team was dispatched after the incident started Sunday when 5 sightseers became stranded on the glacier after their plane crashed.

No one from the helicopter’s crew was injured in the crash Tuesday, but two of the original plane crash survivors reported minor injuries, the Anchorage Daily News reported.

The downed UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter tipped over while trying to land on ice, leaving the multimillion dollar helicopter “heavily damaged,” Hayes said.
