Get ready to Freeze! London will again be transformed into the ultimate ski resort on October 29-31 when the Freeze Festival returns to bring the mountain, snow, music and authentic Alpine Atmosphere to the banks of the River Thames. Featured on the bill are some of the world’s best skiers and snowboarders, who will be competing on the specially constructed 32 meter high and 100 meter long ‘slope.’ The event marks the third year in a row that London is hosting this exciting snow and music festival.
Freeze Festival attendees will find everything they expect from a top ski resort, all without having to leave London. From genuine après ski bars with an authentic Alpine party atmosphere to a high street packed with shops stocking all the latest kit, it’s a must for winter sports fans!
The highlight of Freeze is the LG London Big Air Event, part of the FIS Snowboard World Cup. The London leg of this event will see the top names from the world of snowboarding compete over a massive 17m (55 feet) real snow jump, the biggest ever made in the UK. Austrian Stefan Gimpl took the crown last year en route to going on an undefeated streak in FIS World Cup Big Air events.
Other events include the Battle of Britain (BOB) snowboard contest, which sees the best of British snowboarding talent battling it out for a title.
The snowboarders won’t be the only sport competing; the best skiers in the world will participate in the International Freestyle Ski Big Air and Battle of Britain (BOB) events. Last year’s winner, Australia’s Russ Henshaw, stole the show with his double cork 1260 double mute grab, so you know the event promises to provide tons of high-flying ski action.
After the exciting big air action, visitors will retreat to the huge 10,000-person capacity Kayam tent to see live performances from top bands.
Acts confirmed so far include:
* Roni Size
* MC Jakes
* The Next Men
