Australian ski resorts Thredbo and Perisher are likely short-handed this week as multiple employees were arrested this week in nearby Jindabyne during a sweeping drug and weapons raid outside the ski areas on Wednesday.
More than 80 officers helped carry out the sting operation that resulted in the arrest of 13 individuals aged from 19 to 31 years old. Over AUD$40,000 worth of illegal drugs including ecstasy, LSD, cocaine, speed and marijuana, as well as illegal weapons were confiscated.
Officials said the investigation had lasted for more than a year prior to the raids and indicated they believe an extensive drug network operated in the area surrounding the ski areas.
Detective Gary Merryweather said the operation is expected to net more arrests.
