Mountain and urban gateway, Battery 621, to open in downtown Denver

Imagine recruiting some of the snow sports industry’s brightest minds, creating a free-flowing office environment with limitless synergy opportunities, all while being housed together under one roof. That’s the idea behind Battery 621, Denver’s new 30,000-square-foot development currently under construction at 621 Kalamath Street, “downtown Denver, just 10 blocks south of LoDo”.

Headed by co-owners/tenants, Wink Inc., an event production and television company with deep roots in the snow sports industry, and The Public Works, a full-service project management firm; the companies hope to set the new standard for business by revamping social, environmental, and professional philosophies.

The building, which is expected to be completed by Oct. 1st, contains two 15,000 square foot levels designed to truly maximize space and offer tremendous flexibility. Constructed using Starwall Movable Walls, partitions can be transformed to meet the ever-changing needs of the building’s occupants. Central to the main idea behind Battery 621, the finished building will also house a core common space containing conference rooms, and event hosting areas.

Wink Inc. President, and co-founder Jason Winkler said the common space will give the area a “coffee shop vibe” and provide tenants a much more professional office space.

In fact, it was Wink Inc.’s own company-wide need for more office space that would coincide with Battery 621′s development. Their Jackson, WY, company headquarters were becoming too small for the rapidly growing Wink Inc., forcing the company to pursue expansion opportunities with another office. After long considering an additional office in the growing entertainment hub of Denver, Wink Inc. began searching the city for a roughly 9,000 square foot space. However, after realizing their friends at The Public Works sought a similar expansion opportunity, the two companies partnered up in their search efforts.

In an act of true serendipity, the partners came across an irresistible chance to acquire the vacant 621 Kalamath St. building, which had sat as a 5-year eyesore in a busy Denver corridor. With dynamic views of both downtown Denver and the surrounding mountains, the building serves as a symbolic gateway between both worlds for its inhabitants.

Realizing the group was on to something bigger, the developers began inviting several companies to join their collection in an effort to create something that could be larger than the sum of their parts.
