Three-time Olympic medalist Aksel Lund Svindal (pictured right) clearly has adjusted to his new ski sponsor, Head Skis; he earned the Australia-New Zealand Cup Super-G title at New Zeland’s Mt. Hutt ski area on Thursday.
The Norwegian skier, who took gold at the Olympics in Super-G this year, skied to the win with a time of 1:01.38. Following Lund Svindal was New Zealand’s Giant Slalom specialist, Ben Griffin, who posted a time of 1:02.07.
Meanwhile, Norway’s Lotte Smiseth Sejersted ensured her country swept both the top spots in the men’s and women’s Super-G events, scoring the top women’s time of 1:03.35. Behind the Scandinavian was a pair of Russian skiers, Anastasia Kendrina (1:05.31) and Vladisiava Bureeva (1:05.52), in second and third, respectively.
Kiwi Taylor Rapley’s time of 1:05.75 was good enough to score a 4th place finish in one of her best races of the year.
