Aussie telemark ski film, ‘Winter Dreaming,’ premieres this month

When most people think of the geographic terrain and climate of Australia, they usually picture either the barren Australian Outback or the sandy beaches of the Gold Coast.

However, beyond these usual visions, Australia also houses a beautiful cascading mountain range: the Australian Alps. Every winter these peaks see strong, low pressure systems move in from the South, blanketing the area with blustery powder.

One film crew set out to capture the true beauty of this winter gem, filming the essence and characters that comprise the Australian telemark ski scene.

“Winter Dreaming” unearths the stories told through freeheel skiing on a landscape rarely seen or appreciated by those outside the country-let alone by most Australians.

Watch some of Australia’s best telemark skiers lay down epic lines and charge freestyle tricks into the backcountry. Skiers include Sam Dunlop, Tom Gellie, Graham Hammond, Ross Walker, Dale Cunningham, Sam Foster, Faye Xintaropoulos, Jean-Loic Mafayon, Jake Barnes, Jarrod Paine, Amanda Clarke, Matt O’Rourke, Steve Leeder.

Be sure to tune into the Ski Channel’s television channel to check out “Winter Dreaming,” premiering to the network on September 25, 2010. A trailer is available below, which should help eager viewers to tide themselves over until the big launch to our VOD platform.
