The Tahoe-based ski area recently reported record profits from the 2009-10 fiscal year, and just today they were confirmed as the only U.S. stop of the prestigious 2011 Freeride World Tour. The resort isn’t slowing down either – today announcing the appointment of resort industry veteran Michael Dalzell to the position of Director of Sales and Marketing.
Dalzell, who has spent over 15 years in senior sales and marketing positions within several distinguished world-class mountain resorts, will be responsible for all aspects of resort sales and marketing at Kirkwood Mountain Resort.
“As a company we are very focused on growing skier visits and operational revenues,” states Chip Seamans, GM and COO of Kirkwood Mountain Resort. “We feel strongly that Dalzell has the experience, expertise and energy to bring us to the next level and are excited to have him on board.”
Dalzell began his career at Intrawest’s Mont Tremblant in 1994 in a sales capacity contributing to the success and growth of the resort in the early stages of development and growth. He quickly progressed into leadership positions within Intrawest providing strategic direction in brand development and position, sales channel, sales process and revenue maximization and web-based and direct marketing to the resorts with which he was associated. Dalzell most recently served as Senior Director of Sales and Marketing for Kicking Horse Mountain Resort where he was responsible for developing the resort brand and increasing skier visits by 40% over five years.
A passionate big mountain skier and mountain biker, Dalzell has competed nationally in both sports and continues to participate at the recreational level in ski and mountain bike events whenever he gets the chance.
