Early snow storm: 8″ of powder fall on slopes of Banff-Lake Louise

Over 8 inches of snow blanketed the Banff-Lake Louise area today, with more still in the forecast for the Canadian ski resorts. The early snowstorm began yesterday and dumped non-stop through the night.

The snowy sight comes as Banff-Lake Louise prepares for a projected winter opening that is now only a little more than a month away.

Mt. Norquay is expected to open first around Halloween weekend, followed by Lake Louise Ski Area with a tentative date of November 5. Sunshine Village has a slated opening on November 11.

And if you haven’t made your Banff-Lake Louise travel plans yet, don’t hesitate and book today. With one of the longest ski seasons in North America, there’s plenty of time to visit the some of the world’s finest ski resorts.

Winter will officially get jump-started at Banff-Lake Louise when the Bombarier Winter Start World Cup event returns Nov. 24- Dec. 5 to usher in the start of World Cup speed events such as downhill and super-G.
