FIS Snowboard World Cup season opens with Landgraaf parallel slalom

The 2011 winter season has officially begun for snowboarding with the completion of the parallel slalom World Cup in Landgraaf, Sunday, Oct. 10. The men and women hit the indoor slope with Austria’s Andreas Prommegger and Russia’s Ekaterina Tudegesheva taking home the first World Cup win of the season.

Prommegger was joined on the podium by Itlay’s Roland Fischanller and Aaron March, with Tyler Jewell of Sudbury, MA, fronting the U.S. in 20th, finishing inside the top 30 to score precious World Cup points. On the women’s side Tudegesha stood on top of the podium with Austria’s Heidi Neururer and Alena Zavarina of Russia at her sides. Lindsay Lloyd of Centerville, UT squeezed into the top 30 in 30th place, just scoring World Cup points.

The next stop on the World Cup tour for alpine riders is Limone Piemonte, Italy, Dec. 10-11.
