Sun Valley to celebrate 75th opening day on thanksgiving.

Sun Valley, ID, November 16, 2010:

As Sun Valley’s 75th winter and Thanksgiving opening draws near, the resort’s calendar of exciting commemorative events expands through the season.

As previously announced, Olympic Gold Medalist Evan Lysacek will star in the Silver & Gold Ice Show on Sun Valley’s opening day of December 21 at 6 pm. However, the show now boasts even more silver and gold medalists and will include Brian Boitano, Olympic Gold Medalist, Sasha Cohen, Olympic Silver Medalist, Ryan Bradley, U.S. Silver Medalist and Nathan Chen, 2010 U.S. Gold Medalist (novice). The grand finale will be a torchlight parade on Dollar Mountain and fireworks immediately followed by a Meet And Greet Autograph Party in the Limelight Room.

This Commemorative Week also offers a gala gourmet dinner in the Sun Valley Lodge Dining Room December 21, the Third Annual Christmas Concert December 23 and Sun Valley’s traditional Christmas Eve festivities on the Lodge Terrace, December 24. Aspecial Christmas Eve Dinner Buffet also is set for the Sun Valley Club.

Prior to Commemorative Week, Sun Valley plans the 75th Season Rail Jam Exhibition and barbecue at Dollar Mountain’s Terrain Park Friday, December 17. The event is expected to draw star athletes anxious to ride the Park’s unique 75th season Quad Wall to be unveiled during the exhibition party. The next day at 2 pm, River Run Plaza will be the place to be when a Vintage Ski Party and Contest will highlight Sun Valley’s glamour and style through the decades. That same evening Sun Valley’s traditional Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place in the Village celebrating the arrival of the sensational Sun Valley Carolers.
And, even more events are planned for earlier in the season and at season’s end.

On the eve of opening day, Thanksgiving feasts will be featured throughout the Village and will include the traditional Thanksgiving Buffet in the Limelight Room (included in the Thanksgiving Ski Package), gourmet dining and live music in the Lodge Dining Room, family fare in Gretchen’s Restaurant, Thanksgiving specialties at rustic Trail Creek Cabin, and a seasonal menu also will be served at the historic Ram Restaurant with Larry Harshbarger on the piano.

The next evening the Boiler Room boasts a special gourmet dinner buffet and a special showing of Forever Plaid, the hilarious family musical. This same night and the next night, November 26-27 Warren Miller’s “Wintervention” will be shown in the Opera House.
While daily events will continue throughout the season, (check www.sunvalley.com <http://www.sunvalley.com> calendar of events), the season’s end will include the 33rd Annual U.S. Collegiate Ski Association Championships March 8-12, Dollar Mountain’s Lunar Eclipse Rail Jam March 19, and finally a week-long celebration with the International Skiing History Association and the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame beginning Sunday, March 27. This week promises to bring skiing greats back to where it all began and will end with the Ski Hall of Fame’s grand Induction Ceremony Saturday, April 2 at 6 pm in the SV Inn Limelight Room at which time Sun Valley Resort owner Earl Holding and Olympian Muffy Davis will be inducted.
