Deer Valley is tempted.  After almost record snowfall this November for a variety of resorts, most ski areas would open their  doors as soon as possible.  But not Deer Valley.  It just wouldn’t be right.  After all, they are rated the #1 ski resort in North America an unprecedented four years in a row in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 by the readers of SKI Magazine and The Ski Channel.  This year they will open on Dec. 4th with the Celebrity Skifest marking their 30th anniversary.

Deer Valley never stops striving to better their guests’ ski vacation experience.  That’s why they insist on waiting to open until they can offer a quality product.  Erin Grady, the resorts communications manager, had this to say. “Deer Valley consistently opens the first weekend in December as this gives us time to prepare the mountain and staff for a quality experience for our guests. We have received 28 inches in the past 24 hours and the temperatures have been ideal for making snow.”

Deer Valley revolutionized the ski industry by being the first North American resort to provide the first-class service one would find at a five-star hotel. They offer luxurious amenities such as three beautiful on-mountain day lodges, groomed-to-perfection slopes, powder-laden glade skiing and ten on-mountain restaurants offering unforgettable award-winning cuisine. The sorts of services that have put them on the map include ski valets, on-mountain child care, an award-winning ski school and Resort owned-and-operated Deer Valley Resort Lodging and Reservations, a property management company and one-stop vacation planning center fully staffed with experienced professionals who can plan every aspect of your vacation, from lodging to equipment rentals to child care and dinner reservations.

Top all of that off with the bounty of 300 annual inches of the Greatest Snow on Earth®, their amazingly easy accessibility (just 36 miles from Salt Lake City International Airport) and their uniquely beautiful natural surroundings, and you get the vacation experience of a lifetime.

Deer Valley also plays host to the 2011 FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships .  Competition days will be  February 2 – 5, 2011 and will include aerial, moguls, dual moguls and ski cross competitions at Deer Valley Resort and the ski halfpipe competition at Park City Mountain Resort. The two resorts are located within 2 miles, (3.2 kilometers) of each other.  The 2002 Winter Olympic and 2003 FIS Freestyle World Ski Championship venues will once again be utilized for moguls, dual moguls and aerial events at Deer Valley. The ski cross venue utilized during the 2008 FIS Freestyle World Cup will be used for the ski cross event.  The halfpipe venue at Park City Mountain Resort was utilized as the venue for the 2002 Winter Olympic Snowboarding halfpipe event, the 2009 FIS Freestyle World Cup ski halfpipe event, and the 2010 US Snowboarding Grand Prix. Both venues have a wealth of knowledge and experience in producing world-class competitions.
