Wolf Creek employee dies in avalanche

So many resorts have seen unprecedented amounts of snow to start the year off.  Sadly, this morning an avalanche claimed the life of a skier at Wolf Creek.

 

“On Monday, November 22, 2010 at 7:45 a.m. our Wolf Creek Ski Patrol Director, while working to protect others, was caught in an avalanche which, to our great sadness, he did not survive.  Wolf Creek’s management and all its employees wish to express our deepest regrets at this loss of a wonderful man and close friend.  Our sympathy and condolences go out to his wife and two children.”

Wolf Creek Ski Area will closed today, November 22nd, due to the fatality of a staff member. Lifts will begin operating tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.”

The area is under a blizzard warning until 8 p.m. with one to two feet of snow accumulation expected by 8 p.m. Wolf Creek had this morning reported 13 inches of new snow since yesterday.
