Aspen Snowmass opens to clear skies and 10 inches of new snow

Happy Holidays everyone!  Aspen/Snowmass opened today under beautiful sunny skies. Over 10 inches of snow has fallen in the past 48 hours; skiers and boarders alike are taking advantage of the fluffy powder and amazing opening day snow conditions. Snowmass opened with 805 acres served by 8 lifts. Aspen Mountain opened with 476 acres including local’s favorites Walsh’s, Kristi’s and Hyrup’s runs. Buttermilk and Aspen Highlands are scheduled to open December 11.

The 2010 Visa Aspen Winternational Audi FIS Alpine World Cup races starts Saturday and go through Sunday along with fireworks, free concerts and free food tastings galore- come visit us!

FRIDAY, November 26:

Legendary ski filmer maker Greg Stump’s movie preview of The Legend Of Aahhhh’s. Tickets $10 at The Wheeler Opera House: www.thewheeleroperahouse.com. Come see legendary filmmaker Greg Stump and the athlete that started the ‘extreme’ movement, Scot Schmidt, and get your collector’s poster signed.

SATURDAY, November 27:

10 a.m. & 1 p.m. – Aspen Mountain – 2010 Visa Aspen Winternational Audi FIS Alpine World Cup races

11 a.m. – Taste of Winternational featuring complimentary food tastings and beverages from Aspen Skiing Company restaurants – Finish Area

6:30 p.m. – FREE Bud Light Hi-Fi Concert Series featuring BLIND MELON at the base of Aspen Mountain

8:15 p.m. – Fireworks at Aspen Mountain
