You can catch all the incredible downhill action of the largest recreational ski and snowboard event in the country when Nature Valley NASTAR Behind the Gates airs on the Universal Sports network Dec. 4 at 5 p.m. ET. The documentary-style show follows the inspiring stories of three of the top NASTAR racers in the country during their quest to win the NASTAR National Championships title.
More than 95,000 racers from 28 states competed season-long on their local hills to qualify for the National Championships. Fewer than 1,500 racers in various divisions earned an invitation to this incredible event. NASTAR is part of Bonnier’s Mountain division which includes SKI magazine, Skiing and Warren Miller Entertainment.
“This inspirational TV show combines the likes of amateur racers and U.S. Ski Team Olympians, all sharing a vibrant passion for the sport and giving our partners a more integrated broadcast sponsorship program,” said Johnny Alamo, Executive Director of Sponsorships for the Mountain Group. “It showcases the growth of the NASTAR program as the feeder system from amateur to elite level racing.”
Developed by SKI magazine in 1968, NASTAR is the largest recreational ski and snowboard race program in the nation. NASTAR provides a fun, competitive racing program that, through the development of a handicap system, allows racers of all ages and abilities across the country to compare their race results regardless of when and where they race. NASTAR is also a key feeder program for the U.S. Ski Team.
The half hour-long program airs immediately before the Birds of Prey men’s World Cup event on Universal Sports. Part of the NBC networks, Universal Sports is the preeminent network destination for Olympic-related and lifestyle reaching nearly 60 million homes.
