Stowe’s Dave Merriam wins the PSIA award for excellence in snowsport school mangagement

The 2010 recipient of PSIA’s (Professional Ski Instructors of America) Einar Aas Award is Dave Merriam of Stowe Mountain Resort. Dave received the honor on Tuesday, November 30 during the Snowsports School Management Banquet in Southern Vermont.

The Einar Aas Award is presented to a snowsports school director in the Eastern Division as a tribute to Einar Aas. Einar was an outstanding snowsports school director; his dedication to his students, his school, this organization (both divisionally and nationally) and the snowsports industry is legendary. This award recognizes a snowsports school director for achieving and maintaining the highest standards in snowsports school management as nominated and selected by his/her peers. The inaugural award was presented to Frederica “Freddie” Anderson of the Schenectady (NY) Ski School in December of 2009.

About Dave MerriamDave is Stowe Mountain Resort’s Director of Mountain Recreation. As the head of Stowe’s instructional programs since 1995, Dave has led a team of possibly the most accredited staffs in the snowsports industry. He served as head coach of the PSIA/AASI Demonstration Team from 1996-2004 and has been a staff member of the PSIA National Academy since 1985. Dave’s background with companies like Stowe, Sugarloaf, Tecnica, Volkl, Marker, Warren Miller Entertainment and Ski magazine has made him one of the best-regarded people in skiing and snowboarding instruction. Dave lives in the Stowe area with his wife Eva and two daughters Lucy and Hannah.
