Lake Louise, Alberta – women’s downhill
- Yes folks, we’re in the bonus round in Lake Louise. The gals get double downhill’s, which is a very cool thing. LVmissed her sixth straight win by .12. Pat Graham from the AP and I leaned over a wooden table on the Birds deck to chat with her by phone after the race. It was long after most everyone had headed down the hill. LV has a little head cold and was clearly sniffling on the call, but she didn’t use that as any excuse by any means. She simply said, Maria was fast and I need to be faster.
- I spoke to Jules too, who was on her way back to Banff to hang out with Chemmy before she flies back to Brittan. Word on the street is that Julia was supposed todress up in some sort of costume last night in honor of Chemmy’s heavily fractured leg. I’m sure they’ll be pictures. Jules was fourth yesterday and won the second training run. The Volkl’s will be flying again today.
- The girls went massive attack on this hill yesterday with seven of eight scoring W. Cup points. That’s huge, but they all know they can be faster. Let’s say we switch things up. Alice had the hole shot yesterday, today it’s Chelsea. Take that clean course and let em’ rideChels.
- Get your scorecards ready, here’s the rest of the start list: LV 17, Jules 18, Cookie 27, Alice 29, Leanne 34, Laurenne 41 and J. Ford going full charge from 52. Let’s make that top 15 belong to the U.S Ski Team.
Go time at 12:30 p.m. MT LIVE on Universal Sports. We put it on the big screen yesterday in Beaver Creek and the crowd saw a show. As my seven-year-old nephew says – “May we all have ice cream!”
