Snowshoe Mountain Opens with 27” of snow in the last week

Snowshoe, WV- Snowshoe Mountain Resort kicked off the 2010.2011 season today at 9am with near perfect conditions. Skiers and riders enjoyed 18 snow-covered slopes and 3″ of new snowfall. The West Virginia resort has seen 27″ of natural snowfall in the last week, and the resort’s powerful snowmaking system has been working around the clock since Dec 1st. All of that snow made for some of the best opening conditions in recent memory.

With cold weather forecasted through at least mid-December, Snowshoe’s expert snowmaking team will continue to be aggressive with snowmaking as the resort expands available terrain in the coming weeks. The Silver Creek area is slated to open on Dec 17th, but Snowshoe intends to open additional terrain in the Snowshoe Basin area before that time. The resort also opened with terrain park features available in the Powdermonkey terrain park, as well as a variety of available amenities, including restaurants, shops, The Big Top Entertainment Center, Split Rock Pools and more. Opening week lift and lodging packages start at just $97 per person, per night and Snowshoe is offering a 3-for-2 lodging offer through December 22nd.
