Two weeks ago we posted a story, “Telluride Ski Resort cancels backcountry guide program”. This article announced that Telluride skiers had lost access to back country skiing in the Bear Creek drainage. The private property owners would not accept Telluride’s offer to provide insurance and indemnification agreements in return for access privileges across the land. The article named Tom Chapman as one of the private owners.
Powder magazine posted a story which explains why some refer to Chapman as “probably the most hated man on the Western Slope”. Click here to read.
Chapman has since responded to criticism in a interview with wildsnow.com. Click here to read.
We look forward to your comments on this situation.
