A 20-year-old snowboarder from California was found dead on Christmas day at Blackcomb Mountain nearly a day after he went missing on a treed run.
RCMP staff Sgt. Steve Leclair said the man fell into a fast-flowing creek and could not get out at Blackcomb Mountain in Whistler.
He was reported missing Friday shortly after 5 p.m. by his cousin. His body was found by rescuers the following morning.
“It’s a reminder of the need to be extremely cautious when skiing or riding,” Leclair said. “[Blackcomb] does mark a lot of hazards on the runs, but it’s virtually impossible to mark every single hazard.”
