Heavy winds lifted a chairlift cable off its track Tuesday morning at Sugarloaf Mountain Resort. At least 3 people were injured of the close to 100 skiers stranded on the lift after the accident. Ski Patrol was quick on the scene performing rescue operations with ropes and a harness. The resort saw lots of new fresh powder from the recent blizzard that hit the East Coast and it was around 8 degrees with 20 mile an hour winds that morning.
The accident happened between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m and the chairs just simply fell to the ground. The Resort said it would take between 60 and 90 minutes to get the trapped skiers safely to the ground.
