Looks good for the West this week. Checking in with powderchasers.com for the inside scoop on where the best chances for powder will be. Please go to their website for the full report.
The Wasatch will see light snow today followed by high pressure until late Saturday with snow beginning towards the late evening. Snow will continue moderately into Sunday with an early guess of 9-14 inches at resorts favored by NW flow (Alta, Solitude, Snowbird). Snow will also impact most of the Idaho and Wyoming resorts with the Tetons finally getting back into the powder picture by late Saturday. Colorado will see light snow in the next few days with the better burst of powder on Sunday/Monday. This storm will favor the mountains along I-70 and North. Vail who ended up with 10 inches on the last storm should do well again as well as Steamboat who saw a sneak powder day yesterday (5-8). Last week, Vail picked up 10 inches on the storm day where Sunlight got dumped on and Aspen almost made the skunk list. The storm lingered just North of Aspen and with a wind shift to the Northwest created a push right into the Vail Valley. As forecasted, the Southern Mountains of Colorado did very well on the last storm including Silverton, Crested Butte, Wolf Creek and Telluride.
