Lindsey Vonn heads into Saturdays World cup downhill in Zauchensee, AUT with a 1-2 finish in training runs over the last two days.
“Every speed race is important to me,” said the three-time overall champion, who trails her main rival Riesch in the overall standings. “Now even more as I want to gain some ground on Maria.”
Riesch, who won two of three downhills this season, leads Vonn by 833 to 647 points going into the speed races this weekend, with a super-G held Sunday. But the two-time Olympic champion said it’s too early to call her a favorite for the overall title.
“A lot can happen. Lindsey needs to win two, three times and she’s right up there again,” Riesch said.
