Powderchasers: Weekend storm and heavy snow late next week

Posted By: The Ski Channel on January 7, 2011 6:52 pm

Light to moderate snow will break out on Saturday by mid morning in the Sawtooths, Tetons, and Montana mostly confined to the Northern mountains. Jackson might see 4-7 inches during the day Saturday.  The Wasatch will not see snow until 3AM on Sunday with a solid 3-4 hours of moderate to heavy snow by Sunday mid morning.  Total amounts in the Wasatch will be in the 7-12 inch ranch by Midnight Sunday.  Colorado will start to see snow by 3PM on Sunday with moderate amounts (5-10 inches) by Monday morning. The best snow in Colorado will most likely fall from Noon Sunday to Monday morning with the North especially Steamboat filling in some freshies by the end of Sunday

A very active pattern is setting up for late next week with what looks like a 1-3 foot event for the Northwest starting on Wednesday and hitting the Rockies by Thursday or Friday.  I might issue an “Epic Alert” by mid next week!  This storm has good potential right now.
