Mount Snow Wedding giveaway features local love

Mount Snow’s $25,000 wedding giveaway winners were announced this week and two locals were chosen.  Tyne Pike-Sprenger and David Rothman of Wilmington submitted an entry that won the hearts and votes of decision makers.

The story starts like many others- boy meets girl, boy and girl fall in love, boy and girl get engaged.  But a further look into their history and it’s easy to see why they rose above over 100 other entries.  David and Tyne met skiing the bunny hill at Mount Snow.  As a young child it’s hard to imagine meeting the person you are going to spend the rest of your life with.  But after both went to colleges in separate states, spent a year individually out west, decided there is

no place like home to live at, they met again in their current careers teaching.  Serendipity?  No good fortune favors the bold, and almost immediately after being reunited through work they started dating.

Their first date featured their mutual love of the outdoors with a hike of the ridge trail.  It became a tradition and during their one year anniversary a fireworks show exploded above them (David says he didn’t plan the timing with Mount Snow’s event but we think he’s playing it cool).  This past year they once again went on their favorite hike but this time David got down on one knee, of course Tyne said yes and so began their search for the perfect wedding.  This part was not as easy as the rest of their relationship.  In fact there was one point the couple thought they settled on a wedding in Greece!

When the Mount Snow wedding contest came about they knew it was their dream wedding.  As children they met at Mount Snow, they competed in the same race program growing up; they were engaged on a hike through its trail systems.  It would be the perfect ending to the perfect fairy tale.  Well every fairy tale has a happy ending and Mount Snow is proud to be a part of David and Tyne’s.

“It was amazing to see all of the participant’s enthusiasm; we felt everyone had a winning story! Thank you Mount Snow and sponsors for your unbelievable generosity. We are ecstatic! “said Tyne.

The happy couple will be married on February 14th with a reception at the Grand Summit Hotel.  Sponsors include Cabot Cheese, Westminster Crackers, Catamount Glassware, Boyd Family Farm, Honora Winery, Ellen O’Connor Photography, Sticky Fingers Bakery, Atlas Pyrovision, Mountain Styles Salon & Spa, Adventure Limo, Vermont Country Deli, the Grand Summit Hotel and Mount Snow.
