The accolades for Whistler Blackcomb keep coming in and the resort has been ranked # 1 again.  Conde Nast Traveller Magazine issued results from their readers poll and has Whistler Blackcomb ranked as the top ski resort in the world.  With an incredible village filled with amazing restaurants, shopping opportunities, hotels, lodges and almost unlimited terrain to ski, it’s easy to see why they keep topping every list.

Two of their hotels ranked in the top 10 for best ski resort hotels in the world.  The Fairmont Chateau Whistler came in at # 9 and The Four Seasons appears at # 10.

Whistler has so much terrain and so many runs that  the trail map is called the Atlas.  Know worldwide as XXL for it’s sprawling terrain, grand views, and incredible accomodations, check out this video of Whistler called XXS that makes the area look as if it were miniature and inside a snow globe.

The Resort went public last November after owner, Intrawest ULC, was forced to sell assets to clear debt off the books.  Using available cash and leverage available to expand the infrastructure with hotels and real estate, spending money on growth is not the top priority.

Whistler Blackcomb Holdings focus will now be on building better shareholder returns which has the stock finding traction in the market.  Management is focusing on a 7.7% divident which will make inverstors feel comfortable with their investment  that provides a high level of income and serves to reduce the agency risk associated with many other similar investments.

Because the Resort is already built up, a steady flow of skiers can be expected to come to the area for an extended period of time.  Often ranked as the top resort on list after list, investors can feel comfortable with their money seeing a steady and quality return on their investment.

Currently, the stock is rated to ‘sector outperform’.
