Shaun White takes X-Games Men’s Superpipe Snowboarding Gold

The boys brought out the big guns tonight at the Men’s Snowboard Superpipe final in Aspen at the X-Games.   Who said Shaun White would run away with his too many to count consecutive X-Games Gold Superpipe medals?  I was one of them until i saw the first round of riders.  Sick!  Amplitude, tricks, style, and what do you know senor White was in second with an 89 after run one. Scotty Lago threw down an impressive series of goodness to take command with a 92.00.

The announcers couldn’t stop saying how ‘insane’ the level of competition has risen to.  Thank goodness because the last thing the X-Games needed was a runaway no contest.  Combos for days and sick riding is making this a contest for the ages.

Round 2 saw more big hits and impressive riding.  Unfortunately, a couple of the riders washed out or crashed a bit to keep them fromt the scores to put them on the podium.  Even Scotty washed out after his first hit, a cab double cork.  Not high enough to pull it off.  But it’s alright, he’s still looking good in first place, right?

WRONG.  Even with a cold, Mr. Shaun White threw down like the leather wearing, skinny jean pimp he is.  Incredible run with huge air, crazy spins and stompings. Can you say Double McTwist?

97.33 – Game over!

and “totally redeemed myself!” (after slopestyle shortcomings)

No one can compare with that amplitude, style and trickitude!  I digress.  It was a runaway….. and it’s only round 2 but i can pretty much post the story now.

First 4-peat in Superpipe history, congrats Shaun!
