World Cup leader Hannah Kearney (Norwich, VT) will lead the U.S. World Championship Team Wednesday evening as flag bearer in the 2011 FIS World Freestyle Ski Championships’ opening ceremony. Kearney was selected by her fellow World Championship teammates, to carry the flag during the Ceremony that is scheduled to take over lower Main Street in Park City at 7 p.m. MT.

“It’s flattering. The fact that I was voted by my teammates is especially nice,” said Kearney. “We are all representing our country skiing in World Championships, but when the representatives of your country ask you to represent them – it’s significant. They are the people that I train alongside with, compete against and live with. Knowing that they elected me is a huge honor.”

The 2011 World Champs open with the men’s and women’s moguls finals Wednesday, Feb 2. at 1:45 p.m. MT.
