Major storm dumps 2-3 feet with 4-5 foot accumulations expected on Tahoe

Tahoe finally broke out of the spring like conditions that they had been experiencing for the last month.  Sure, they’ve had some snow but according to the viral and twittervirse there has been plenty of belly aching.  Well, not anymore.  Too bad for the locals it’s a holiday weekend but i’m sure they’ll shred the goods before all of the bay area heads up to the Lake.

With forecasted accumulations of more than 4 to 5 feet of fresh powder at higher elevations, the region is shaping up for an exceptional Presidents’ Day Weekend. The snow is the result of a low-pressure system out of the Gulf of Alaska moving through the Sierra Nevada. More storms are already lining up in the Gulf with indications of a promising finish to the month of February for powder lovers.

This pic i found from @NorthstarTahoe on twitter.  Loads of snow in the village after a foot of fresh fell on the area Tuesday night with another foot falling throughout the day today.

This is from @unofficialsquaw ‘s twitter.  Looks like KT 22  before it was closed from high winds.

Here is what it looked like at Alpine from @skialpine
