17 year-old Tyler Flanagan is on a roll after a second place finish in the legendary Oakley Arctic Challenge held in Oslo, Norway. The Mammoth Lakes local faced world class competition in a field of 30 of the most progressive riders in the sport. Coming off a third place finish at the Winter X Games Slopestyle event last month, Flanagan came into the event with dialed-in tricks and a hunger to compete.
“It’s an honor just to ride at the Arctic Challenge,” says Flanagan, “Climbing the podium here in Norway in front of so many of my idols feels amazing. The Slope course was cold, fast and fun. Looking forward to next year already.”
Tyler’s unique and rare talent along with progressive tricks and incredible style translates to what the judges are looking for. Now that he knows he can compete with the best in the world he has his sights set on gold.
Flanagan secured second place with a Cab 270 on the stair set, switch lipslide 540 off the cannon, a back double cork 1080 off the step down jump, front 1080 off the step over jump, 5050 backside, 180 melon off the flat rail, then a cab 1080 off the final step over jump.
