In February 2010, Christine Feret and Artur Testov ventured to Denali to attempt a winter summit of North America’s highest peak.   Confined to a snow cave for 12 days in a freezing blizzard, the pair was unsuccessful.  In February 2011, with a sponsorship from Be First (First Ascent/Eddie Bauer), they return to Denali to make another attempt.

Climbing Denali in the winter is a daunting task. Only 16 people in history have even been successful making a winter summit. Last year, Christine became the only female who has made the attempt at all.  Eddie Bauer and First Ascent wish them the best of luck on their epic adventure!

Adventure is all about stretching your capacity and meeting new challenges. The BE FIRST program is an opportunity to get sponsored when you go for your summit whatever that may be. So if you’ve got a passion for adventure, send in your proposal. They can help make it happen. What’s your next first?

First Ascent/Eddie Bauer outfitted their first expeditions more than 55 years ago, including some of the most historic first ascents in the 20th century. But it wasn’t all about mountaineering.  They helped outfit a 2-year archaeological exploration of the 10,000-mile Inca Highway in South America, sponsored five expeditions to the north Arctic, including Baffin and Ellesmere Islands. They also outfitted the 2-person team that set a world record for canoeing down the full length of the Mississippi River.
