LOS ANGELES, CA — KTLA-TV forecasters are calling for the snow level to drop to 500 feet as a winter storm sweeps over Southern California this weekend, which could leave snow on the world famous “HOLLYWOOD” sign.

Temperatures in Los Angeles are predicted to dip into the 40s, and The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Southern California through Sunday.

With snow about to hit Los Angeles there is no better time to head to the slopes.  This past week I shot over to Mountain High to check out the place myself.  I was really impressed with their great snow, cool runs, and short lift lines.  Mountain High is the closest Ski Resort to Los Angeles, and it was only about a 90 minute drive from Downtown L.A.  If you’re looking to ski or snowboard this weekend’s weather forecast calls for fresh snow!

Mt. High is the combination of three distinctly different mountains and a wide variety of lifts and trails. The West Resort is filled with a seemingly endless assortment of technical trails and skillfully-designed terrain features. It is also Southern California’s only local resort open seven nights a week. The East Resort is somewhat of an undiscovered treasure with cruising trails more than a mile and a half long, thrilling moguls and breathtaking views of the Mojave Desert. Rising as high as 8,200 feet, the East Resort offers traditional skiers and snowboarders a true alpine experience without having to journey far from home. Mountain High offers a third resort with 70 acres of tubing and beginner terrain catering to families, snowplayers and introductory skiers.
