We are proud to announce the addition of a beautiful newborn baby girl to monster ski pressman Doug and uber hot wife, Katherine Haney. So coming out of the gates of Haney we welcome future gold medalist Gwendalyn Terese Haney.
Gwen, at 7 lbs, 10 oz, was born at 1:22 a.m. ET after just over 10 hours of labor.
“She has the most incredible blue eyes, chubby cheeks and a mess of brown hair. She’s inquisitive, looks around and seems to size you up when you speak to her.” Says proud papa, Doug. “Our quiet little room with one nurse and a midwife transformed into a stark operating room, scrubs and eight bodies in about 20 minutes. I’ve never been more scared in my life. Then from the other side of a sheet, she cried.”
“She may have cried a whole two minutes since. She’s perfect. We’re perfect. We have a beautiful view of Lake Colby from suite 3 at Adirondack Medical Center. It just started to snow.”
“Pretty sure she said her first words already – Hammer Down!”
Doug Haney has been the Alpine Press Officer for the US Ski and Snowboard Association since the 2008 season and engages directly with U.S. Ski Team athletes and staff around the world. We at The Ski Channel are very fortunate to receive his World Cup notes and insights to the World Cup stops as our beloved Ski Teams travels through Europe and America. He is an integral part of The Ski Channel and its coverage of the worlds biggest events. Haney is trusted and revered by athletes, loved by the media and a tremendous talent.
A native of Grand Rapids, MI, Haney has worked with the USSA since 2002 when he served as the nordic press officer during the Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. When not on the Audi FIS Alpine World Cup tour, he lives in Saranac Lake, NY with his ridiculessly ‘way too hot for him’ wife Katherine.
