The U.S. Ski Team has selected 11 athletes to represent the USA at the 2011 FIS Junior World Freestyle Ski Championships in Jyvaskla, Finland Mar. 19-20. The event will showcase both moguls and dual moguls contests.

Out of the 11 athletes, five will start in both events with six skiers specializing in either moguls or dual moguls. The talented team ranging in ages from 15-20 with roots in six different states will head to the newly built venue.

“Everyone on the team has a chance to win medals – even the younger ones,” said Marbler. “They showed what they could do in the NorAms – otherwise they wouldn’t have made the team.”

Recently named to the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team, Ryan Dyer (Steamboat Springs, CO) will spearhead the Team as the U.S. vies for four Junior World titles. Also joining the ranks are Bradley Wilson (Park City, UT), who is currently sitting in second in the NorAm standings and Ali Kariotis (Novato, CA) who is coming in hot after her first NorAm Cup win in Val St. Come, Quebec.

“It’s a totally new venue, but they know what to do,” said Junior World Head Coach Harald Marbler. “Finland has a very long moguls skiing tradition. We’re absolutely excited.”

The Junior World Championship field will compete back-to-back days in Jyvaskla opening with moguls on Friday and ending with dual moguls on Saturday.
