Daron Rahlves’ silverbelt challenge and banzai tour to hit Sugar Bowl

The Daron Rahlves Bonzai Tour is headed for it’s last stop at Sugar Bowl.  To say there’s some history to this event is no joke.  The original Silver Belt Race, dating back to 1940, saw skiing’s best travel to Sugar Bowl from across the country to test their mettle against the famed Silver Belt Gully. Skier competed for top honors to take home the famed Silver Belt Buckle. Each spring, GS racers would compete in Aspen, Sun Valley and Sugar Bowl, in what was essentially the World Cup circuit before there was a World Cup circuit……

Racers not only battle the famous terrain, but race head-to-head against each other. A fourperson gate start with strategically placed gates to maneuver and manipulate the fall line speeds to create an action-packed run navigating all-natural terrain just as mother nature has delivered it. With turns & berms, banks and airs, and generous rewards for well-timed risks, all make for incredible spectator viewing. This event is like no other in ski country.
