Drew Tabke held on to his lead Saturday and took home the victory at the Subaru Freeskiing World Tour at Snowbird. On a day filled with weather delays, it was a one run finals. Usually at Snowbird, we are treated to super finals where the top 10 or so go back up for one last display of super skiing. Fog and snow delayed the event enough to make it not possible. So after a couple hours of waiting on top of Baldy, senor Tabke needed to score high to secure the victory and a 28 or better to take home the overall title and McConkey Cup. He did just that, holding off Sage Cattabriga-Alosa and Chopo Diaz who finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Tabke’s run was full of huge airs and strong fluid turns. Taking it a little conservative with the overall title in mind, he still managed a 40.13. Sage had the highest scoring run of the day at 43.7. 3′s to the left, 3′s to the right, a Japan air backflip and he sent it off the lower Ampitheatre where Chopo and Drew did. Chopo put together an amazing run but landed a bit in the backseat on a huge backflip up top which surely cost him a higher score.
Angel Collinson also won both the event title and overall titles on Saturday. Crystal Wright took second and Nicole Dirksen was third. The top two ladies took on the double at the bottom of the venue and Nicole got a bit lost on the bottom so she pointed it over rocks and aired out to roaring applause.
Silas Chickering Ayers took home the sickbird award and Spencer Brinson took the North Face Young Gun award.
Another amazing season is in the books and thanks to MSI and the Subaru Freeskiing World Tour for the excellent live coverage!
