SMS racers take 8 top 10′s at Junior Olympics

For the 13 alpine competitors from Stratton Mountain School, the J3 Junior Olympics is the final proving ground for the racing season. Racers took eight, top-10 results.

On March 12, the J3 racers competed in Slalom (SL), and went 3, 4, 5 for the girls. Freshman Piera Hudson, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand had the finish of the day with her third-place finish. Marzario placed fourth; Lathrop took fifth; and freshman Leah Fowler, Bondville, Vt., finished 18th.

On March 13, the J3 competitors took to the Giant Slalom (GS) course. SMS freshman Lara Lathrop, South Londonderry, Vt. took fifth; freshman Montana Marzario, Prior Lake, Minn., placed seventh after finishing her second run in fourth; and eighth-grader Payton Alexander, Peru, Vt., finished 16th. For the boys, freshman Tanner McGrath, Bondville, Vt., finished 18th; and eighth-grader Brendan O’Keefe, Mahway, N.J., finished 22nd.

On March 14, the J3s competed in Super-G (SG). Freshman Finn McNamara, Stratton, Vt., placed 18th, and freshman Tanner McGrath, Bondville, Vt., finished 19th. Freshman Piera Hudson, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand finished third; freshman Montana Marzario, Prior Lake, Minn., placed fifth; and freshman Leah Fowler, Bondville, Vt., finished seventh.
