WHISTLER, BC — The 14th annual Showcase Showdown Superbowl Slopestyle, Presented by Burton, rolls into the Nintendo Terrain Park March 19. Riders will compete for $5,000 worth of cash, prizes, and of course the main prize – bragging rights.
“The 14 Annual Showcase Showdown will not disappointed with this year’s football inspired event set-up,” says Graham Turner, Showcase Snowboards store founder. “The Showdown features a super-fun course design built for riders. There is $5000 in cash prize money up for grabs, two Samsung Tabs for “Best Tweak,” and a killer VIP-only after party featuring ‘A Whole Lot of Led” at 8pm at Merlin’s.”
This event is designed for shredders by shredders to bring good times and good cheer to the mountains. The Showcase Showdown is always a local favorite and this year won’t disappoint. “We’ve ensured a better viewing area for spectators in the park and are introducing the Showcase Cheerleaders to help energize the crowd,” continues Turner.
This unique Super Bowl-inspired slopestyle course includes three sections: first, a Line-backer rail setup (2 rails to choose from) then riders transition into the Field-Goal channel gap (two 45 foot table-tops side-by-side) and wrap up with the Quarterback Sneak quarterpipe at the bottom of the course.
In addition to the main event, the sponsors have stepped with the Vans Waffle Breakfast, Samsung “Best Tweak” competition, Forum BBQ in the park, and the THIRTYTWO VIP Tail-Gate Party at Merlin’s. Event sponsors include Burton, Forum, Bonfire, Quiksilver, Ride and Vans. Showcase Showdown partners include: Kokanee, Red Bull, Nature Valley, Nintendo, Camp of Champions, Merlin’s and the WB Foundation.
