Steamboat, Colo. – This season Black Tie Ski Rentals has expanded a number of its locations in North America to now offer amenity centers, ski valet service and traditional storefronts. The company still offers it core product – ski and snowboard rental delivery – however certain locations have presented opportunities to provide additional services to guests that make their vacation even more convenient.
“The whole idea behind Black Tie Ski Rentals was providing guests with a convenient service – ski rental delivery,” said Ian Prichard, co-founder of Black Tie Ski Rentals. “Over the years we’ve identified more conveniences that we can provide skiers and this year that translated into many of our locations offering ski valet services, amenity centers to change out skis and pick up lip balm and other items, as well as some locations now offer traditional ski shop storefronts.”
Seven of Black Tie’s 13 locations expanded to provide additional services for its customers.
• The Steamboat Springs, Colo. location offers five different, convenient options for guests to experience Black Tie. The location continues to provide rental delivery but now offers a walk-in store, an Amenity Center, as well as ski valet services in One Steamboat Place and Chateau Chamonix.
• In Mammoth, Calif. the Black Tie team expanded to provide ski valet service to owners and guests of the 1849 condominiums. The location offers free overnight storage to 1849 owners and free storage for guests renting from Black Tie.
• Black Tie Ski Rentals in Telluride, Colo. offers ski valet service for two of the newest most high-end properties in Telluride – Lumiere Telluride located in Mountain Village and Element 52 in the town of Telluride. The Telluride Black Tie operation also works with Telluride Ski Valet so guests who rent from the company have a convenient place to store their equipment overnight, free of charge.
• In Crested Butte, Colo., Black Tie offers exclusive ski valet service for the Alpine Club at the WestWall Lodge, which is the area’s premier high-end lodging property.
In addition to valet services, three locations – Big Sky, North Lake Tahoe and Vail – have expanded to provide both delivery service and traditional ski shops. For example, the Vail location, which is called Vail Base Camp, was mainly established to service guests of the new luxury Sebastian Hotel – Vail. Although the shop mainly caters to hotel guests, it is open to the public and offers a full line of ski and snowboard rentals along with tuning services and retail accessories.
The Vail location opened in conjunction with a hotel to meet their guests’ needs, however North Lake Tahoe owner Adam Kmitta notes that they opened a store to accommodate the 40 percent increase in sales the location has had over the last five years.
“As the resorts in North Lake Tahoe have expanded terrain, guest services and new hotels have opened in the market, we’ve seen a greater demand for the convenient, ski rental delivery service that we provide,” said Kmitta. “In addition to focusing on our core business, we also will provide guests with a new option for rentals this winter at our new store near the Truckee Airport.”
As vacations get shorter and shorter each year, time is a precious commodity and the mission of Black Tie Ski Rentals is to provide clients with convenient services that help them maximize their vacation experience. Whether local experts delivery rental equipment to guests or they choose to use one of the company’s traditional storefronts or valet services, the aim is to provide convenient, time-saving options while on a ski or snowboard vacation.
Black Tie cornered the market on ski and snowboard rental delivery when the company started in Steamboat Springs, Colorado in 2002. The first to pioneer ski and snowboard rental delivery, Black Tie has grown from operating out of a one-car garage to offering winter sport enthusiasts more than a dozen owner-operated locations in the most popular ski resorts in ski country – making it the largest rental delivery operations in North America.
From its flagship location in Steamboat, Colorado, Black Tie has grown to provide rental delivery to skiers and snowboards in 13 locations that service more than 35 world-class resorts including Mammoth, North Lake Tahoe, South Lake Tahoe/Heavenly, Aspen/Snowmass, Breckenridge/Keystone, Crested Butte, Steamboat, Telluride, Vail, Winter Park, Big Sky/Moonlight Basin, Park City/Deer Valley/The Canyons and Whistler.
Black Tie offers a variety of rental packages with equipment provided by some of the most respected names in the industry – K2, Nordica, Volkl, Dynastar, Salomon, Rossignol, Atomic, Burton, Armada, and more. Regular season adult rates begin at $32 per day for adult rentals packages at most locations (prices vary based on the resort).
