Mount Snow hosted its annual Jack Jump World Championships on March 6th on the Charlie’s Chase race trail. Over sixty competitors took part in the event that features timed runs of racers on a jack jump, basically a seat mounted to a ski. This used to be the method of travel for lift mechanics before snowmobiles became common place.
The event has become an annual tradition at Mount Snow with training prior to the race and an after party at the Snowbarn following. While competitors come from all over New England for the race, many locals fared well including Owen and Max King taking first and second place respectively in the kids division and Sue Zukatis and Sally White also taking the top two spots respectively in the women’s division. On the men’s side local competitors took eight of the top twenty spots with the highest honor going to Darby Howe taking fourth place.
