Mount Snow, the state of Vermont and Nectar’s has teamed up to produce an unparalleled Reggaefest lineup this weekend, March 25-27. The three day festival mixes live reggae music with fan favorite events the Sink or Skim Pond Skim and Duct Tape Derby.
The festivities begin Friday night at the Snow Barn with a performance by Dub is a Weapon and Ila Mawana. Ila Mawana and DJ Big Dog take over Cuzzins deck at noon on Saturday with a free performance. At 1pm on Saturday witness brave, costume clad souls as they attempt to cross our 100 foot pond for their chance to win a 2011-2012 season pass. Saturday night the main act takes center stage as the Easy Star All-Stars combine musical versatility, instrumental prowess and vocal harmonies that have established them as one of the top international reggae acts in the industry. The music wraps up on Cuzzins deck Sunday afternoon with another free performance, this one by the Pulse Prophets.
Sunday also features two on snow events, the Duct Tape Derby and the Brad Haight Memorial Race. The Duct Tape Derby takes place at noon on the tubing hill and will feature over seventy sleds constructed from cardboard, duct tape and zip ties only. Judges will award the “Ducts” trophies to the top sleds in five different categories. The Brad Haight Memorial Race will take place at 10am on Sunday with an expected participation level of around 150 racers. The event is a kombi where participants will attempt to master a course with both giant slalom and slalom gates mixed together.
