Putnam Investments has been named by the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association as the title sponsor of the 2011 Putnam U.S. Alpine Championships to be held March 31-April 3 in Winter Park, CO.

The annual spring event brings together top skiers in the world like 2011 World Championships gold medalist Ted Ligety and three-time Olympic medalist Julia Mancuso to compete against the top racers in the country for national bragging rights.

“Putnam is a great example of a partner that has found value from its activation around the U.S. Ski Team and great athletes like World Champion Ted Ligety,” said USSA’s Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer Andrew Judelson. “Putnam’s engagement in the U.S. Championships will bring its brand to an even broader audience at our premier season-ending Championships event.”

A personal supporter of Ligety, Putnam activated with the U.S. Ski Team last fall and has since engaged directly with the ski community as a sponsor of the 2011 Audi Birds of Prey World Cupin Beaver Creek, CO. Putnam has also had exposure on the racing suits of the U.S. Alpine Ski Team throughout the season.

Ligety went on to win the giant slalom at Beaver Creek and the next two consecutive races after that en route to a World Championship gold medal and the third World Cup discipline title of his career.

Putnam’s title sponsorship includes visibility on race bibs throughout the event including the super G races which air April 9 at 5:00 p.m. ET on Versus. Putnam will also present an opportunity for fans to meet and get an autograph from Ligety on Thursday, March 31st following the opening men’s giant slalom.
