The USA’s Tyler Jewell (Steamboat Springs, CO) finished 14th in a parallel giant slalom World Cup in Arosa. Austria’s Andreas Prommegger and Switzerland’s Fraenzi Maegert-Kohli topped the men’s and women’s podium.

Jewell was one of six Americans to compete in the season closing World Cup. Fronting the U.S., Jewell, the only American to qualify for finals, drew Switzerland’s Simon Schoch in the round of 16. Unfortunately, Schoch claimed the victory advancing to the quarterfinals to face Prommegger, ending Jewell’s podium run.

The men’s race was topped by alpine snowboarding stand out Prommegger. Italy’s Roland Fischnaller and Switzerland’s Nevin Galmarini finished second and third.

In the women’s race Maegert-Kohli  clinched the victory with Ekaterina Tudegesheva of Russia in second and Julia Dujmovits of Austria in third. Lindsay Lloyd (Centerville, UT) was the top American woman in 22nd.

Sunday’s parallel giant slalom race concludes the 2011 FIS Snowboard World Cup season.
