Dollar Dayz filled with family fun at Sun Valley

Skiers and riders of all ages will find plenty of fun on Dollar Mountain during Dollar Dayz Saturday and Sunday, April 2-3.

Competition begins with the SuperTour Nor-Am Nordic Hill Climb from Dollar Mountain Lodge to the top of Elkhorn, 9-11 am on Saturday.

One hundred fifty of some of the world’s best Nordic racers will compete in a new race format which requires a super hill climb up Dollar Mountain. Good results here can provide racers with guaranteed World Cup starts for the 2012 season as well as a share of a large prize money purse. The event will be hosted by the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation.

Additionally on Saturday at 11 am, Dollar Mountain will host the Sun Valley Kids Cross Race for youth 15 and younger. The race will be held on the Half Dollar Cross Course. The format will be three-person bracket down the Sun Valley Cross Course with the top two riders moving forward to the next round. Age classes are 4-7, 8-11, and 12-15. Registration will be from 9-10 am. Competitors must have a parent or legal guardian sign the entry form. The race will be limited to 50 competitors. Awards will be presented following the race underneath the bell on Carol’s Dollar Lodge deck.

Sunday, April 3, Dollar’s final day of operation, the Sun Valley Ski Patrol will host the Second Annual Cold Bowl Pond Skim. The 11 am event will be free with a purchased lift ticket. Competition will be limited to 100 and registration will be 9-10:30 am. Costumes are encouraged and prizes will be awarded.

Music and a barbeque will liven up Dollar Mountain’s deck beginning at 11 am.
