Skiing in the backcountry can be a great experience. The peace and quite, the fresh powder, maybe making a jump with some friends or even snowmobiling to a remote mountain side. For Ollie Frisk of Sweden, he and some friends were enjoying a bit of time off piste from the Härjedalen ski resort, in Northern Sweden, when Ollie skied over a bear den causing it to collapse and send him crashing inside.
The female brown bear, LIna, was inside with her cubs and attacked Ollie, biting him several times before stopping and leaving the den. “I accepted death, that was the feeling, let it come,” Ollie said.

His friends scared off the bear and they got Ollie safely down the mountain. He spent the night in the hospital and was treated for bites on both legs. He is now at home with his parents and will think about what he’s skiing on in the future.
The mama bear hasn’t returned to her cubs yet and officials will be forced to take action if she isn’t back soon. The cubs have been alone for several days now and are in need of food and their momma.
