Near Ayers, Switzerland, another avalanche in the Alps has taken the lives of 3 German skiers who were part of a touring group.   9 cross country skiers were making their on the mountain when a 1,600 foot wide section broke off from the mountain and trapped 3 of the skiers.

The avalance began at about 8,00 feet and rescue helicopters had to come in and pull the victims from the snow.

More details will be available later.

Last month, an avalanche trapped a skier in the Evolene region of the Swiss Alps.  With temperatures heating up, the snow can be tricky and unstable.  If you are heading out to the backcountry, learn about the conditions and be safe.  It’s dangerous out there.
