Descente North America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan based Descente Ltd. today announced that all operations related to its ski division are operating normally and the 2012 collection is on-schedule for fall delivery to worldwide retailers.

“We wish to convey our profound sadness at the many lives lost in northern Japan in the catastrophic Tohoku/Pacific Ocean earthquake and tsunami,” said Etsuro Nakanishi, president of Descente Ltd. “We send our sincerest condolences to those who lost loved ones and friends, homes and livelihoods.  Descente will do its utmost to support the survivors in their hour of greatest need and offer them our thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery.”

A portion of Descente’s design, sales and production planning divisions are located in Osaka, Japan, approximately 500 miles from the earthquake and tsunami ravaged areas of the country.  The Osaka area suffered no damage.

Production planning for the 2012 collection is proceeding as usual and off-shore factories and mills are operating under normal conditions.

Port and forwarding officials have confirmed that operations are normal and there are no expected delays in shipping raw or finished goods.

While business continues at Descente, employees and management are following developments in northern Japan closely and offer their continued support to their countrymen in this time of tragedy.
