Colorado is famous for it’s high moutain tops, incredible skiing, outdoor activities and according to the Wall St. Journal it is now famous or infamous for leading the nation in fraud.  Per capita, Colorado has the highest rate of fraud complaints, excluding identity theft.  With a population of 5,029,196 and total complaints mounting to 24,973, that makes 496.6 per 100,000 people.  Florida was a close second with 491.7 per 100,000 inhabitants.  “It really doesn’t surprise me,” fraud prevention coordinator for the Arapahoe County District Attorney’s Office Mason Finks was quoted as saying in the Aurora Sentinel. “We were number two a few years ago for identity theft complaints and we tend to be in the upper five to 10 position in a lot of white-collar crime or finacial crime. And I’m not sure why that is.”
