VAIL, COLORADO —   Two entries by Atwater on Gore Creek won prizes for both a lamb dish and a custom cocktail at the recent “Taste of Vail” contest. The three day annual event brought hundreds of hungry attendees to the Lamb cook-off, the first contest of the festival.  Atwater GM, Adam Lewis, reported that the line at the booth to taste Atwater’s Lamb entry was extremely long during most of the afternoon, and the restaurant’s entry, Lamb Trio Miso BBQ, sold out early. When the votes were tallied, Atwater’s lamb dish had won the “People’s Choice” award.

Building on the “freshness of Spring” theme after winning the award, the chefs of Atwater decided to add a few more new dishes to the daily menu, pairing each offering with seasonal items. New additions to the menu include the award-winning Lamb Trio Miso Leg of Lamb, the Succulent Lamb Chop plate and a Lamb Sausage with Spring Pea Puree and Ginger Carrots dish, along with other menu offerings such as fish, fowl and vegetarian options.

Later that evening, more than 200 Taste of Vail enthusiasts attended the next contest, “Get Your Frost Off,” a custom cocktail competition, which mixologist Robert Zamenic from the Fireside Bar at Vail Cascade walked away with a winning designation. Zamenic’s second runner-up libation, the Red Mango Sensation included Rum, Grand Marnier, Hennessey, mango puree with fresh mint and soda water.

Vail Cascade’s other Taste of Vail Chefs and their offerings were:
